My name is Arnan Natan and I've been playing the saxophone since I was nine years old. In 2016 I graduated a Bachelor of Jazz music at the conservatory in the Netherlands. I've always been interested in new instruments and new sounds. When I discovered the xaphoon in 2019 i was very excited. I heared that this wonderful flute was handmade from Hawaii. I started playing some jazz tunes on it and I was surprised by the beautiful deep sound of the Xaphoon. After making some Xaphoon videos on youtube I received a lot of questions and comments. People wanted to know how to play this instrument and asked me if I could help them out. That's why I created this platform.

The xaphoon is a single-reed woodwind instrument. Some call it a "pocket saxophone", since it has a deep sound like a saxophone, but is portable and light like a recorder. It has a two-octave chromatic range and uses a standard tenor saxophone reed. The original Xaphoon is unique and handmade from Hawaiian bamboo, but there are different kinds available now. The Xaphoon is invented by Brian Wittman, from Maui, Hawaii. He's been making these amazing instruments for over 50 years now, and more and more people are discovering it!
